Thank you, and yes I was incredibly lucky. I was visiting my family in Texas and we rounded a mountain road and BOOM there it was. We were by it in a flash but I started screaming at my family to turn around and let me get out so I could take a picture.

I don't think i've ever seen the sky that red before,

Trick for shooting sky and sunsets/sunrises: Underexpose just a little bit--especially with your aperture---crank it way up to f-22 or something. It will deepen and saturate those sky colors...always better to do it in camera than with photoshop! (which is kind of halfway cheating...a little bit)
